2019 - Barrel Racing

The Wanham Plowing Match will be hosting 4D Barrel Racing Jackpot during our 49th Annual Wanham Plowing Match June 21-23rd 2019. This jackpot is intended for both local men and women and ABRA members to compete at. 

 

Peewee/Leadline (10 & under)

1. Peewee is for children ages 10 and under. This rider must be able to safety control their equine partner around the arena.
a. You may also enter the lead line group which is intended for children 10 years and younger to be led by a parent or guardian on foot.
2. This year peewee and lead line will have two runs, one Saturday June 22 at 11:00am before the youth and open and one Sunday June 23 after the open and youth which start at 12:00pm.
3. Cost is $20.00. One entry per rider - Two runs (one Saturday June 22nd and one Sunday June 23rd)
Entries are only completed once payment and entry forms are given to me. No exceptions. There is a wonderful app called “Adobe Fill & Sign”
4. All contestants MUST PRE-REGISTER. Maximum of 40 entries per peewee and lead line division. Registration deadline is Monday June 3, 2019.
5. This year we will NOT be doing a check in, draw is posted and there will be a 3 call rules, if after 3 calls you are not in the area your turn will be forfeited.
6. Prizes: All contestants will receive prizes.
7. Entry fee will not be reimbursed if you choose not to run.

a. Any questions or disputes which arise during the event which are not covered in the above rules will be decided and settled by the committee whose decision is final.

8. Sunday June 23rd after the open there will be a prize give away, please be there to collect your prize. 
9. Western Attire is required.
10. AEF membership is required for insurance purposes. (or other provincial insurance)
11. If we have any timing problems such as timer failing, you will be permitted to re run at the end.
12. Each rider will have two runs, one Saturday and one Sunday.
13. Any changes, information or cancellations will be posted online. 
14. It is full responsibility of the rider to find out the run times/schedule.
15. Any verbal or physical abuse towards other competitors, staff and committee members will NOT be tolerated. You will be asked to leave the grounds with no refund of entry fee’s, gate or camping fees.
16. ALL PARTICIPANTS IN THE PEEWEE AND LEADLINE GROUP ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A HELMET. THERE WILL BE NO EXEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.
17. Gate and camping fees are NOT included in your entry fees. Fees depend on what you choose to do, please see the website for pricing.

Youth (11-17 years)

Read below for Rules & Regulations and Entry Form for Youth (11-17 years)

1. Must be 11-17 years of age to enter the youth barrel race.
2. Date of race is Saturday June 22nd and Sunday June 23rd.
3. This is a 3D race, with a 1 second split. There will be $1,000.00 added money.
4. Under 49 entries payout will be to 5th place. Over 50 entries payout will be to 6th place.
5. Prizes and payout will be Sunday June 23rd after the runaway race. Time frame of prized and payout will be announced after runaway.
6. Cost is $60.00 TOTAL per horse. - One run per day, total of 2 runs (one run starting at 11:00am Saturday, one run starting at 12:00pm Sunday)
7. There will be no check in this year, there will be a strict 3 call rule, if you are not in the arena after the 3rd call your turn will be forfeited.
8. Entries will be closed on June 19th and a draw will be posted. If there is still entry room, there MAY be a POSSIBILITY of entries day of BUT you will be at the end of the draw for BOTH days PLUS a late fee of $10.00. ENTERING DAY OF IS NOT GAURENTEE.
9. There will be a max 100 entries accepted. It’s a first come first serve basis.
10. Once the race if full no other entries will be accepted.
11. Do not call or message the day off asking if there is room, I will not be replying to anyone asking, as we are very busy setting up.
12. Western attire is required. Please be in western attire for prizes.
13. Contestants must run in a saddle.
14. AEF is required. (or another provincial insurance)

15. The arena will be racked after every 5 runs and a big rack every 50. (With a big rack in-between youth and open)
16. Only clean runs will count, best of two runs. (knocked barrels will be a no time)
17. There will be one saddle up for grabs for fastest consistency. Both open and youth will compete together for this.
18. There will be one saddle up for grabs for fastest average. Both open and youth will compete together for this.

Open (18+)

23. Gate and camping fees are NOT included in your entry fees. Fees depend on what you choose to do, please see the website for pricing.
24. Exhibition runs are $10.00. Contestants entered for exhibition runs will run at the end.
***RUNAWAY RACE***
We will be having the second annual runaway race. The top 10 fastest ladies will compete (if they would like, if a spot is turned down it will go to the next fastest) for $500.00 and a buckle. This race will happen after the open on Sunday June 24th. Please be listening after the last runner in the open for the top 10. A draw will then be posted, and the race will run shortly after.
